1) Real number in ever cell between negative infinity to positive infinity.
2) Each cell adds its number with its neighboring cells and then divides by the number of additions.
That's pretty much it for the underlying algorithm. Everything else is just for aesthetics. Color coding the cells based on their number. Arrows that point to the great local change i.e. vectors.

They are different models. Wolfram's model is more... would illustrative be the right word? Gary's model is more of a direct simulation attempt, "let's make the universe in a computer" kind if thing.

Pretty amazing that it works from such a simple rule! If this is really the equation of everything then it implies that the universe is fundamentally a balanced diffusion/concentrate system.
