linear algebra is just applied algebra

Apply yourself.

no? why would it be? this question perplexes me.

do you even know what linear algebra is? what does this question mean?

Do computer science people even learn linear algebra beyond an introductory first year course?
It's like 75% of what we do in EE (and the control/optimization parts of ME), but most CS people I've met are much more on the "software engineering" side of the field and rarely do meaningful math.

depend on the program.
I had to learn calculus 1, 2, linear algebra 1, 2, physics 1, 2, probability theory, numerical method, and fluid mechanics for my bachelor degree.

True linear algebra is tensor algebra, representation theory and so forth
