Someone explain electromagnetism to me. What the fuck is it. Why is there two forces combined into one that act PERPENDICULAR to each other. Wtf. Doesn't make any sense.
Also why the fuck is there positive/negative, north/south. What the fuck you mean repelling force. Gravity I get ok? Mass curves spacetime and therefor things fall towards the center of mass. But what the fuck is a negative charge and why does a negative charge move away from it. And what the fuck is a magnetic "north" anyway and why the fuck does it have no affect on electric charges, but actually it does when it moves. W.T.F.

Physics is an experimental science. We don't explain why things are the way they are, we just observe them and use mathematics to describe and predit them the most accurately we can. Once you have that mindset, you will be able to "understand why" electro.agnetism is the way it is.

Thanks for nothing

magnetic force is just the coriolis force of a spinning vortex and electric force is its lamb vector

You get that, yet don't catch the previous statements, huh

Is there one field with many charicteristics, or are there separate fields existing in the same space?

I get that it just DOES that, but WHYYY, why does the electric force and the magnetic force interact in this way and why do we call it a single force when it's clearly two different forces that while they interact each other don't directly act a force at each other but fucking perpendicular to each other like they live in different fucking dimensions
What is this magic shit

i know on this board it is forbidden to mention this theory but (special) relativity provides an explanation. you can find a reference frame for each case where magnetism completely disappears and the forces are explained by electricity alone.

Can you elaborate further? How does SRT explain something like ferromagnetism for example?

>Why is there two forces combined into one
There isn't 2 forces. There's only electromagnetism, they have no independent existence. If you have a magnetic field then you also have an electric field and vice versa.

Where's the electric field around a Bar Magnet nigger

Without moving the magnet? Move the coil? Without moving either the magnet or the coil? Place it in an accelerating frame.

I know we are. I'm describing Faraday's law of induction to you friend.

Yeah I know what the is, but how the fuck does a bar magnet have a magnetic field on it's own?

>how the fuck does a bar magnet have a magnetic field on it's own?
Okay, thats really a quantum effect that arises from electron spin.

>I'm describing Faraday's law of induction to you friend.
Which requires that the charge is moving. If you don't move your bar magnet you have a steady B field and no E field.

wrong

wrong

Special relativity allows electric fields to create magnetic fields when the move, and self propagating electromagnetic waves when they accelerate.
