This is hardly a novel viewpoint. Most everyone thinks dark matter is stupid, but nobody so far has come up with anything better than "There's a bunch of stuff we can't detect that makes galaxies heavier than they look". If Musk was truly smart he would be providing a better explanation for the issue rather than just mindlessly pointing it out.

I'm not "implying" anything, I plainly said that founding a company that builds rockets takes no special genius, it takes money to pay people who are geniuses. You then moved the goalposts stating that, at some point, when he started his first business, he had no money, as if that's somehow relevant to the conversation. But to humour you, let me also just explicitly state that it takes no particular genius to make money as a coder during the dot com boom, especially when your rich dad is willing to kickstart your finances.

He still didn't have anything to do with the invention of Paypal or any of those other things. Again, he literally bought the right to call himself founder. The only thing he does particularly well is convincing people he's smarter than he really is, although at some point he seems to have convinced himself.

Everyone knows Darl Mayter and Dark Energy don't exist, including scientists. They just use the names for placeholders, because "stuff we don't know" sounds dumb in papers. There is somethingm whether equations or phenomena, that we haven't dound out to make the theories work, they called it DM and DE instead of "unknown".

Anonymous No. 16077578

>>16073719
It's still the simplest solution to the 'missing mass' problem. It's just that astronomers are rapidly running out of viable candidates for dark matter: MACHOs are out, WIMPs are looking less and less likely, so we're now at the point of looking for some kind of matter that only interacts through the strong force and if that gets ruled out they're kind of out of options.

At that point you need to go and start looking at other explanations: Maybe our model of normal matter distribution is wrong, maybe collective interactions play a more important role than we've considered, etc.

And if that doesn't pan out, then there's really no choice but to start revisiting relativity.

Anonymous No. 16077589

They needed to throw out relativity a looooong time ago. Relegate it to being a formula for engineering purposes. It's not some sort of source code of the universe as it has a bunch of gaps (singularities and dark matter for example).

Singularities aren't real, the Schwarzchild model just breaks down at surfaces and interiors of objects.

Every GR model of stellar and compact object interiors has increasing, but still finite curvature, so it's very likely that even in the case of a blackhole, the curvature (extreme though it may be) is still ultimately finite.

So that's a non-problem.

Stars as they move in a geodesy of a space-time lose mass, increasing in angular momentum to an apparent barycenter system which is in effect, larger over distance. This in part lends to a purported idealized system whereby stars orbit a larger nebulous mass.

Nope. Even if they were completely dark they would still pass in front of background stars periodically lensing them. Some microlensing projects have been running for decades looking for these events, and there are nowhere near enough to explain dark matter. MACHOs are ruled out over a huge range in mass.
Also the CMB and the abundances of elements formed in the early universe don't allow all dark matter to be normal matter.

Exoplanets have been found with microlensing, even claims of rouge black holes. But nowhere near enough to explain DM.

"Dark matter" is just modern-day epicycles, a placeholder explanation. We're seeing a real phenomenon, but you have to shift perspective to a higher dimension to understand what's really happening.

Dark matter is just matter in one or more parallel universes. The gravity from those universes leaks across dimensions into our universe.

We can only detect the gravity from other universes. We can't see the matter because we are dimensionally restricted to this universe.

Think about it: If you had a magic filter that would allow you to look out into space and see only "dark matter", you would see a bunch of fuzzy blobs that look like galaxy clusters, but out-of focus. You're just seeing the gravitational "shadows" of galaxies in parallel universes.

There must be some substantial distance between our universe and the parallel universe(s), which "smears out" and weakens the gravitational signal, but the signal is still there. Alternatively, the other-universe gravity might be smeared-out because there are many parallel universes, all slightly different, and that makes the "dark matter" look fuzzy.

How do I know this? I just made it all up. But it's better than epicycles, and parallel universes leaking gravity into this universe is more entertaining than invisible "dark matter".

Come to think of it, it's the opposite, actually. You think that a man who heads a rocket company must be a genius. I'm simply saying that isn't necessarily the case and that, therefore, you've failed to prove anything. I'm the one who's showing you there are more possibilities.

The fact that you didn't follow the logic here whilst calling me a midwit is, of course, highly ironic.
