Do we underestimate them?

A folk legend says they have trials to punish their sinners and especially those who commit adulteries. They would attend in numbers and the culprit would walk through the hedge of shame to face the judge (usually their eldest) and consequently face their punishment which includes generally gauging their eyes to death. You can argue it is just a fol story, I don't think I have stumbled upon a source confirming this behavior has been documented.

No but they are based. Or idk
Sometimes people that train them can sort of be lenient when testing them like with saying they got answers right by either not giving a shit about the test or the crow just parroting steps, or when they make tests which are biased/easy/impossible to fail like if it really isn't a challenge. You'd think that after a while they'd be able to do the test with more than a "one or the other" choice between two objects for example like with object permiance but this in addition to the crows that just follow steps to complete the test are maybe just trainers that are bad. And speaking about that it annoys me when parrots just say random shit and the human puts it together as it making sense like when they think they're literally having s conversation with the parrot responding but that's the human brain being able to put together gibberish words up to an amount of 6 words within a sentence with words they do recognize in at or before those points but that's parrots
I think crows could be way smarter when talking to other birds, especially other birds that are intelligent or the same birds like magpies, when they talk to them rather than humans. I think personally that a lot of intelligence (and what separates humans from animals) is their ability to work together like a society or at least a family. I think they're less territorial so are more society while magpies are territorial and have one area that's theirs for their entire lives so magpies are more family, but magpies don't really mind crowd as far as I know. And magpies don't mind other birds like gulls, not even minding cats, they can befriend both, in their own territory where they're being treat with respect

Their intelligence can maybe be shown more specifically if they're pressured to do so. I think crows can maybe plan ahead, into the future, and can understand when they need to act (or if they do) based on opportunity, and can weigh up risk and reward. They have a concept of time also. A lot of learning like with humans is repetition
I think they would be shown to be more intelligent if the tests could be made in such a way that time is of the essence and they would have to act in some cases. This could also aid in teaching them faster but also that they still do need their trust to be earned as well

Their intelligence is overrated not underestimated. They are not any smarter than a chimp and as you know chimps are retarded dumbshits.

check this out: two corvid species are really closely related to each other, its on the level of human and chimp relationship

often when you pick two vertebrates and compare them you would see they are very distantly related from each other but human/chimp and corvid(/corvid seem to be different case

already a parus species (Spidermans Venom character emerges from tennisball -bird) is a lot farther from crow or raven in terms of evolution
