🧵 Bean sprout additive help

Anonymous No. 16079210

I sell bean sprouts for a living, but I'm getting destroyed by competition, a few years ago (like 10) we had something called 5803, it came from China. It made the sprouts grow pretty nice. Tried contacting the company behind it, they answered but hung up immediately after asking for the specific product, as if they were afraid of something. The product name was 8503特效高低温防腐剂. Any help will be appreciated

You can find it on taobao. No idea what's in it.

I've tried searching there, but there's only one seller, with no reviews and very sketchy (sketchier than the others selling similar products), individual packages with no info, some even packaged with paper, with 8503 stamped on it. Google and Baidu was no help either (ventured on Baidu, no info about the manufacturer neither)

The most I've found was a news article mentioning the product, something about jailing a man 5 years. He was using medical grade antibiotics, this product, and a few more that reduces root, whitener, preservatives and other things. Other searches result are similar products, which I've tried and don't work.

>However, illegal workshops often use a carcinogenic additive known as “8503ab Powder” to shorten the growing period and make bean sprouts look bigger and fresher

It will be very hard to find and you shouldn't use it. Why don't you try a mycorrhizal inoculant or sprouting on vermicompost and charcoal?
