no, being smart doesnt make it hard to socialize. First, you can just socialize with other smart people. I consider myself a midwit, an average student, i was never considered bright or dumb among my peers, yet my peers had been filtered to be in a select group of university-level STEM students. Being high IQ is frustrating rather than being lonely. Everyone around you except your high IQ immediate family seem like barely sentient cattle to you, and not in the cute / funny way like in Idiocracy. He gets the crayons removed and becomes smart but all his friends abandon him and his only friend is Lisa, she's stoked because she has literally no one to relate to and now she has the smart dad she always wanted. Homer can't deal with the isolation and shoves crayons back up his nose and leaves an apology note for Lisa calling her braver than he can ever be for suffering like that.
