I've recently heard that this silly bead board is somehow supposed to make kids into math geniuses or something?
How would you even do multiplication/division or trig on it? Seems useless in the modern day of calculators.
Why don't kids in America and EU learn it?

The Romans didn't use numbers. They didn't need to. They used abaci. It was superior to numbers which is why numbers didn't develop until the middle ages when we started doing more serious maths.
Romans used it for everything. Land surveying was done with it. Economics was done with it. They're an insanely useful tool.
