🧵 Trigonometry

Anonymous No. 16088768

How hard is it and should I take it? I recently completed calculus 3 but I want to take trig to know what’s going on with these triangles.

If you truly want to understand triangles you'll need to study algebraic geometry. Only category theory can capture the deepest secrets of the triangle such as its scheme morphisms and its moduli stack. They won't tell you this in trig.

its way harder than all the calc series combined. calc 3 is cakewalk comapred to trigninemnts

Yeah understanding the general information is good enough for me. No need to understand the most hidden secrets of triangles

>>16088821
If that’s true then that sounds terrible. Calculus 3 for me was extremely tough because it was the first math course that focused on understanding the equations and concepts than just the computations

It's easy once you understand it, I have to take my midterm in 2 hours so wish me luck

Is it a university course? All you do is apply law of sines and cosines

Good luck on your midterm!

>>16088858
Yes it’s a college course. But what about the other anon saying it was more difficult than all of calculus combined?

Why not take Geometry I and II?

In my country it's a prerequisite for uni, first introduction to trig functions. Since you did calc the most you will learn is some geometric thinking and basic complex analysis. You're likely to forget these skills sadly

Yeah I took geometry back in high school. But I didn’t know that there was a second addition

>>16088882
That’s fine. My calc course has some trigonometry and I felt like I was missing pieces of information I should have knew

they can't teach you everything in precalc so when you learn more advanced stuff in uni (where they have a different curriculum made by different people) you're bound to encounter some problem that requires a weird, obscure trick or even a common one that you weren't previously thought. But the more trig you know the easier clackulus will be.

you should be fine if you passed calc3. some of the identities can be a little tricky to remember and how to utilize them, but overall it's not bad (though i took it 9 years ago).
