I think I found a way to make explosives from saw dust.
Step 1.put pine sawdust in a blender and then onto a coffee filter
Step 2.do acid base extraction by mixing ethyl acetate, hydrochloric acid and the liquid and then extracting the liquid at the bottom with droppler or separation funnel
3.mix what is now phenol with nitric acid and sulfuric acid
You know have picric acid which is more explosive than tnt made from wood!
It can also be used as a bullet primer

tons of explosives are easy to make if you have a magical source of nitric and sulfuric acid. Thats kind of the hard part for random civilians that are not chemical industry moguls

I do not think it will work since ethyl acetate will pull a shitton of shit out of the wood along with phenol/blah which will cause a bunch of side reactions. You're much better starting off with purchasing phenol/making it from benzene which will yield a purer product. (ie stop trying to do everything the hard way)

if youre doing chemistry and you do not have these *most common* mineral acids you should not be doing chemistry

(Aside from purchasing online (and assuming youre not in china or smth), you can literally walk down Lowes, buy sulfuric acid. Then, go to walmart or something and buy a nitrate salt cold pack. Boom, you have both nitric and sulfuric acid.)
