when did you realize that IQ meant nothing? To me, it's all about money and resources.

You gotta be smart enough to understand that you have fucked up in life and have the ability to turn it around. Of course you could use money to do it for you.... I'd rather be smart and middle class

I would say it's all about motivation. If you have a high IQ and low motivation you're not going to get anything done and your high IQ will be worthless. If you want lots of money because you have no money and you also have no motivation then you're not going to get lots of money. Motivation is what makes things happen. A higher than average IQ will just increase the chance of success slightly and make things happen a bit faster

Whenever I hear people describe someone (usually a child) using language along the lines of "intelligent but doesn't apply themselves" my first thought is that an actually intelligent person would in fact apply themselves

Variance in thinking ability isn’t significant?

intelligence is it's own reward. sounds cliche but it's true. I don't think im extremely intelligent or anything, but i am sufficiently intelligent that I always find something to engage my mind with and never succumb to boredom or ennui. I think with lower IQ comes dependence on stimuli, which imo is a huge liability. Anything which makes one more self sustained/sufficient is worthwhile in my humble opinion. In a hypothetical future where (expensive) treatments can increase intelligence, I would say money is more important. Until that day comes, I would say you're better off being blessed with high IQ than inherited money. As it sits currently, your IQ is mostly immutable. Your financial status is not.

of-course it's all about money. only people with money can fantasize about it being about anything else. they stand to gain the most if they convince you it's not about money.

to a more limited degree than money is. ideally you'd have a good bit of both.
when you are retarded you don't know what you're missing out. when you're poor you're quite aware of what you're missing out. now more than ever.

Some of them don't though. Some do nothing and are really lazy and never get anywhere. Some retarded people are highly motivated and get really far, that's why you often see idiots in positions of power

Even historically this was not true. I'm richer than you'll ever be yet I'm posting in the thread a broke boy made. At least before the internet I'd be intellectually and culturally advantaged, now everything has plateaued materially.
Intelligence is now the only remaining class structure.

It's unclear if people with low intelligence can *ever* have meaningful or fulfilling lives in any sense.
The psychological trauma of being sub-genius as a child alone is like an inescapable hell and leaves people scarred for life.

>when did you realize that IQ meant nothing?
When I found out the majority of mathematicians and physicists weren't getting paid as well as athletes and actors even though their contributions were longer lasting.
When I found out Japan and South Korea the two highest IQ nations in the world were dying out because they couldn't figure out a way to convince themselves to reproduce.
When I found out that economic, political and military leaders of the US put their own country into $34 Trillion dollars in debt despite going through institutions that had to test their IQ just to be in their fields.
