I want to become an expert in Automotive (and diesel engine) cooling systems and once I graduate college I'd like to be a design engineer so I began looking for SAE standards related to thermostats, water pumps, etc. Does anybody know any biography I can read and study and eventually become a good Design engineer on this topic. Any advice and recommendation will be very appreciated, thanks beforehand

Look up the course you want to do on the university website and it will have a list of subjects for that course. For each subject there should be some general info and also the textbooks used for that subject. Just try to find the textbooks online somewhere and read through them. That way you know there's a good chance what you're reading will be relevant to the course you want to do, as opposed to just reading random stuff online
