Just watched 3-body problem on Netflix. My friend says it's ccp propaganda while my other friend says the physics is legit.
Can a planet sustain life while in a triple star system?

>My friend says it's ccp propaganda
Any aliens would be millions of years more advanced than us so they could easily engineer a three star system to be more friendly to life. Alternatively the three star system could have wide orbits so that planetary orbits are stable like our nearest neighbor Alpha Centauri does, allowing life to arise there naturally IF the planets are in the habitable zone. It doesn't really matter though. The aliens would be so advanced that they wouldn't interact with us any more than ants interact with humans. I've never seen the show so I don't know if it's propaganda. Are the aliens Chinese or something?

I can't be called ccp proganda since it's a single chinese scientist who causes everything because the ccp was evil to her.

It's indirect Chinese propaganda because it promotes the zero-sum Chinese approach to international relations - kill or be killed.

here's the thing: those aliens while old aren't actually that much more advanced than us
they can do some weird particle physics shit but can't do stellar engineering or even FTL

>3-body problem on Netflix
ah shit I was mistaking this for another series from last year, named "Three-body" where aliens make contact and scientists start off-ing themselves. dropped it after few episodes.
gonna give it a watch, both seem to have similar rating on imdb

That's because FTL or star engineering doesn't appeal to the Chinese mindset so the author never considered giving his aliens those powers.

Both can be true. Those statements don't exclude each other.

Yes of course. Life developed in a comfy one sun system, and when it approached a binary system changes grew from small to wild killing life that couldn't adapt. It took millions of years to be close enough to make conditions so chaotic.

not sure, show us a planet in a trinary star system so we can determine if it can sustain life

The netflix version is filled with woke propaganda, ironically they fail to realize they are as evil as commies.
The Chinese version is aimed at Chinese people and therefore is not suit for americans who can barely do elementary school math.

Nah, they only get a drive that lets them go at c, IIRC. The reason why there's no stellar engineering is because it alerts the dark forest aliens, and they blow you up or worse.

I've never understood this logic. We're as advanced as single celled bacteria. "Advancement through time" doesn't mean technological progress. And even if it did, technical progress is inconsistent and has physical limits.

If the show starts going into depth about what the aliens taste like, then you'll know it's Chinese.

Could have just said that in the start and not write anything else.
