Can any engineer here explain why the entire bridge collapsed after one pillar was hit?
Anonymous at Tue, 26 Mar 2024 19:58:47 UTC No. 16098106
Removing the pillar created an unbalanced force causing downward acceleration

nobody can explain gravity yet
dont worry they will have a new made up equation to "explain" it if you hand over another 100 trillion for their new particle smasher

CGI. Cargo ships can't melt steel beams.

Look at the support, do you think it can resist by hit by over 100,000+ ton force? Nothing to do with American infrastructure being bad.

This all the fault of the jews who hired a fucking moron as captain of that ship.
Anonymous at Tue, 26 Mar 2024 20:48:19 UTC No. 16098176
The ship had a momentum at impact of about 154,000,000 kg m/s. For a car to have equivalent momentum it'd have hit the bridge at 156,580 mph. All of the internet talk of rubber bumpers and piles of gravel are silly for a direct hit by this much energy. It would just plow through all of that like a car driving through a wall of single ply toilet paper.

not an engineer, but think of it this way.
i'm gonna split the bridge into three parts
Part A | first support | Part B | Second support | Part C
If you destroy the first support, duh the parts A and B to the right and the left are going to collapse, this leaves the second support still standing, but now part C does not have a counterweight and all of its weight is balanced off to the side, assisted by the tension of the other two parts struts/wires makes Part C fall in on itself.
also in the video you posted, it looks like the weight of part B falling causes the land connection of Part C to be ripped up from it's
support. Like a seesaw, once the weight of part B breaks off the seesaw no longer connected to the support teeters the other way. and the weight is too much collapsing part C to the right of the second main support.
Even if the engineers made the strongest fuckin wires and roadway, taking out the main support of a bridge of that span is just a guaranteed collapse. vidrel is a complete and catastrophic failure that could have been avoided by having working eyes.
bridge builders are usually worried about earthquakes, tidal conditions, and weight restrictions. Not some grade A idiot, driving directly into one of the giant main stationary supports with a massive fucking boat.
holy fucking kek, what was the captain thinking.

just lookee it up.
people are speculating that the ships steering went out since that specific ship has had issues with propulsion in the past, also apparently they issued a mayday a minute or two before they hit.

Am*rcians are incapable of building anything that lasts. They marvel at structures that are only 100 years old as peak engineering. Gonna be real funny in the next 20 years as all their old skyscrapers fall down due to flooded basements.

listening to npr and they keep wanting to focus on the bridge construction rather than what the fuck was happening on the giant boat that caused it to careen into a giant unmoving pole.
I can't wait to see that when the blackbox data comes put it shows that one of the crewmbers did something really stupid and
they try to
sweep it under the rug.

NPR is for literal smoothbrains. They don't care about anything except various special interest grifts. You'll hear nothing about this incident from them except how it can benefit government safety inspectors and construction unions.

Seems like it was a mechanical issue. The crew sent out a timely mayday that saved lots of lives. There's not necessarily anything they could have done. It's probably some bean counter in an office skimping out on preventative maintenance.

The design assumed competent crews. Unfortunately jews hired the cheapest because their pets will never punish them. This documentary explains the crew's limitations:
