When you really get down to the basics, we're just human beings, aren't we? And what are human beings? Evolved primates. Evolution really is the only theory that makes any sense. Sentience arose out of inert and dead matter. People will just have to accept that answer.

I also think it's worth mentioning that if God somehow does exist, we aren't him.
