I feel you OP. I got a masters in math and did very well got publications. Then I decided instead of doing a Ph.D I'll look for a job. I was already very computer savvy/comfortable with coding etc. After a year I can't find a single interview even after leveraging every connection I have. Now I'm returning to do my Ph.D (math) because I don't give a shit despite knowing there's probably nothing waiting for me after that. I've literally accepted I'm just going to have to survive off of whatever my parents leave me because it seems I'll never get a fucking job.

if you have such a highly technical degree like math you need to convince the company that is hiring you that you can mathematically or to be more precise economically optimize certain processes of that said company. E.g. you want a job in the logistics industry then showcase your mathematical skills by creating a more optimized savings algorithm that can save costs for the company and they will hire you on spot and tell the hr roastie to get fucked.
