If we must accept that human beings are nothing but the same stuff we observe then why do scientists insist that it's wrong to anthropomorphize stuff? Regardless of things having human brains or not: if human beings are just molecular machines then it must be true that our fears and desires reflect the tendencies of molecules to bond and repel other molecules. Therefore scientists must study psychology to learn more about chemistry.
