>humans have a lifespan of 80 years on average
>collagen slows down in your 20s and fine lines start appearing

Why does our body start decaying so early in life?

We adapted to breeding as soon as we were late adolescents and dying at roughly 40 years old. No pressure to adapt to long-term physiological function.

Yeah, these changing tinescales, with geopolitical/environmental pressures, staved off a lot of things.

When a country is at war the elections are always easy/doesnt change directions.

I fucking hate how everything in this universe has such a short shelf life. Humans only last around 25 years in their prime. Most stars have a short window of habitability.

Humans have an unassisted lifespan of ~40 years. Development stops around your peak breeding years and you just decay after that.

It's only medical intervention that lets us live into our 60s, 80s or further, and our genetics haven't caught up with that technological reality.

As average child rearing age increases, people will naturally begin to select for people who look better and are healthier for their age. Natural selection will inevitably result in humans being bred who age more gracefully.

Your great, great, great, great, great, grandchildren will look fucking terrific in their 40s.
