๐งต Mathlet needs help
Anonymous at Sun, 31 Mar 2024 10:39:21 UTC No. 16106083
I really want to stop being a mathlet but finding zero practical use cases for it I'm unable to pursue any advanced studies seriously.
I'm a low level C++ system programmer and - outside of 2D geometry - the most complex thing I remember using is fast fourier transform to pitch shift an audio signal without changing its frequency.
Machine learning is interesting but unless you're building bespoke software, relying on APIs like TensorFlow or PyTorch is mostly about setting the right input/outputs, spamming layer upon layer and that's it.
I'm starting to feel like hardcore math really is pointless.

Brown hands typed this post. It is 3rd world mentality. If something doesn't have any use cases or doesn't make money then it is useless.

You have an imagination problem.

That right, guys. Calculus was invented for no reason at all, and has no applications.

>practical use cases
Go back to business with your business speak. You clearly aren't dedicated to anything so won't be able to put in the effort. Take your selffulfilling prophesy and just know that for you, it isn't worth it. For most other people, yes it will be worth it

The first part of this post doesn't set the right tone (skin tone) for the nefarious second part.

Why is /sci/ like this?
Is advanced math peak midwit cope?

Pretty much yeah. Unless you're building software tools which gets used by other people (for example a package with a quadratic equation solver), then you dont need to implement math directly, generally speaking. The exception is with algorithms.
Remember, math is literally just machinery with numbers. You dont build a brand new factory every time you want a car.

I'm so tired of niggers who've never written a single proof in their entire lives.
You "people" don't know what math is.

See above link. There are 6 math problems that they will pay a million for the first correct solution to each problem.
