Somebody seemingly knowledgeable posted this:
Mean distance = 29.3018
Eccentricity = .98153
Inclination = 4.35684
Ascending node = 18.5295
Arg of pericentre = 94.1284
Mean anomaly = 305.16514
Claiming something was going to impact earth on Apr 8 (or be announced that day, not sure).
Can anyone figure if these numbers are just pulled out of his ass or do they tell us something?

>oy vey the world is coming to an end!!!
>muh soiyence says so!!!
this is always a lie, it always has been in the past and it always will be in the future

Yes probably, but such specific data should be "easy" to check for someone who has access to some kind of orbital simulator and telescope, no?

he's trying to make sense of those numbers. if he were making an appeal to "muh soiyence", he would post that the world is going to end.

i would look into this, i guess

so post what the knowledgeable person said (you won't)
Anonymous at Sun, 31 Mar 2024 21:22:28 UTC No. 16106808
can someone plot this orbit, maybe in some kind of software?
Anonymous at Sun, 31 Mar 2024 21:24:09 UTC No. 16106809
Means nothing. I fucking hate wannabe "I am so le nerd guize" retards. If they're intelligent enough to understand their own cryptic bs, why not post exactly what they mean.

its just these https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orbit
it doesn't seem cryptic or meaningless at all, just possibly useless.

Yeah that much is clear that these are orbit parameters. What I was talking about was
>Claiming something was going to impact earth on Apr 8
and how did they get that date data etc

yeah context would be nice, and i've seen a lot of the sort of thing you're talking about.
i'm mainly curious whether the claim could be confirmed/disproved using just the orbit parameters and some sort of online tool, or another method.

Would be good to know the mass. picrel is the simulation for the given parameters from cneos: https://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/tools/orbi
Please check if I made a mistake.
Orbital period is 63000 years.
Earth is the green (not turqoise) planet directly beneath the sun.

Thank you! From what I understand this wouldn't be on the same path as earth, correct? Don't know mass, but around 800m wide.
For the context it's probably just some larper larping being an insider, just quite specified larp so wanted to ask

When I entered the OP's data I got something that impacts Mars.

Does mean distance really equal perihelion?

Hmm, why so different?

is assuming the Mean Distance is in AU (1au = 1 Earth orbital radius). Which makes sense, but at that distance it's never going to be anywhere near us. Also, the inclination looks like you're assuming it's in radians, but the numbers for ascending node/arg. of perigee/anomaly all make more sense as degrees, and so inclination is probably also degrees.
>>16107330
is just retarded, as that orbit clearly doesn't have an Eccentricity of ~1.
