I think it wouldn’t be a disorder if it was a majority experience. Neurotypical people get along with other neuro’s, autistics get along with each other better. Being neurotypical is only normal because it outnumbers autistic people.

I don’t think the same could be said for things like schizophrenia, alzheimers, huntingtons, parkinsons, because they not only get in the way of social life with others, but detract from life quality in general.

Autism is only a problem for autistics because they have to talk to “normal” people, and live in a world that caters to normal people.

I used to think it was bologna but my son inherited y autism and talk back and he's almost 4 years old.

Something being a social disorder hinges on two things:
Social cohesion - Does this 'quirk' prevent you from coexisting with other people and or otherwise developing positive relationships with others?
Homeostasis - Does this 'quirk' inherently compel you to harm yourself or otherwise cause you personal distress that prevents you from being comfortable or healthy?

Mild Autism can 'potentially' be considered a social disorder only insomuch that it might prevent (or make it more difficult) somebody from making friends, cooperating with others, and preserving & pursuing meaningful relationships. Where I disagree is with the 'quantity' argument. It wouldn't matter how common a social disorder were if everybody who had it was just a dysfunctional retard that wanted to kill themselves or couldn't cooperate with anyone.

If you want another more 'lived in' example we can look at transgender people vs homosexuals:
The biggest threat to homosexuals is typically people who don't like homosexuals. If you dropped a bunch of homosexuals (disease free ones) on a deserted island nothing about their psychological profile would inhibit their survival. They'd make tools, gather food, they'd form relationships, and create a community.
If you abandoned a bunch of transgender people on an island they'd probably kill themselves. Their condition is a threat to themselves, prevents homeostasis, requires medication and/or therapy, and can be considered a disorder.
