Do monkey females have two X chromosomes, or is that a human thing?

Anonymous No. 16110673

That’s a great question! Like humans, female monkeys also have two X chromosomes (XX). This is true for most mammals, including chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans. The XY sex-determination system is common among mammals. So, female monkeys and female humans are alike in that regard.

How is the weather today in NY?

In New York today, it’s mostly cloudy with a high of 46° Fahrenheit, and wind and rain later this afternoon. There’s a spring storm rolling through that’s bringing snow to parts of upstate New York and the Tri-State area!

some mammals moved on from having xx/xy as the Y genes migrated onto different chromosome.

I doubt primates ere divergent for long enough to have chromosomal differences that extreme tho. Sooner they'd gain or lose a pair

This anon is correct.
It should also be noted that humans differ from our close relatives chromosomally because two chromosomes fused at some point in our lineage.
