Hey can we discuss earth science? Specifically geology and paleontology please. I feel like this board forgets about this part of natural science because of an autistic obsession over math skills due to insecurity or something. I dunno. Anyway, thanks.

There's a different board that gets paleontology threads now and then. I won't say which one though. Because /sci/ is filled with retarded Bible thumpers... all of which are definitely going to hell for being hopeless, sinfull degenerates (yes I know you are, you're on bloody 4chan you dumbass).

I’m a geologist, specifically actually I do environmental work. I work at a company that does environmental reports for building projects. So I spend time doing historical reviews and looking at dirt. I have a degree in Earth science and have been working for about two years
My education consisted of a lot of camping and hiking and my work consists of reading historical reports and watching other people dig holes so I can take samples when they’re done. Best degree

>sure but nobody cares
I don't see why. Earth science is basically space science but more approachable, and hence more likely to actually have an impact on our daily lives.
As one of those math autists that OP is talking about, I'll admit that I find the problems of cosmology more interesting to study (progress in such problems tends to overlap with advances in geometry), but surely this can't be the majority view, whether on /sci/ or beyond.

ill bump just to counter the spambot with one of the least terrible while still terrible threads up now, but if you want to discuss something you typically want to start the thread in a manner that actually encourages discussion. You should make your OP in a way that actually has content but if you can't do that then it's alright to put something simple like a question "what's your favorite dinosaur" or "do you prefer metamorphic rocks over sedimentary" or some such in there to at least give some direction. Talk about X plox is basically the worst way to start a discussion.

I have a question for all of you:
What is your favorite climate proxy?
For me it's dripstones. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spele
