why is it when I microwave taquitos for longer til they get hard, they seem to cool off faster when I take them out? Shouldn't it take longer cause they got hotter?

You already knew I was smarter than you. You failed to realize that the OP didn't even understand newtonian cooling, as the hotter substance will always have a higher cooling rate but will NOT return to room temperature faster.
