I don't have eclipse glasses. How can I use science to look at the sun today without glasses? I have $3, my laptop, and a few paper clips. Nearest store is 20 miles away and my car isn't getting picked up until Wednesday.
Worst comes to worst I think i can focus on the moon until it blocks the sun to protect my eyes but I want to know other ideas.

If you have a cardboard box and a sheet of paper, you can make a pinhole camera using the paper clips.

That's not the same thing. I could just watch old eclipse videos if that were the case.

Funny but I know if I look at the sun I will go blind. Looking at the moon might work from what my cousin was telling me.

Pinhole cameras don't let you look at the Eclipse they only reflect it. I want to look at the eclipse.

Just did this. Apparently can use binoculars and some shading. But I have to be careful because the binoculars focus the sun when used regularly. I think I should be able to use the binoculars backwards and then cover the smaller end with some mesh so the projecting of the shadows lands on the binoculars and reduces the sun glare that comes through the binoculars. Thanks anon!

There's no such thing as an eclipse, it's a NPC mind lole.

I've never looked at an eclipse without glasses, but...couldn't you just glance at the Sun? With your eyes? I think probably every single human in history has looked at the Sun directly at some point in their lives, then looked away and blinked the spots out of their eyes. I very highly doubt it will cause any significant damage to your eyes to glance for a few moments at it.

Just don't overdo it.

You can look directly at the eclipse during totality, but If you want to do so before hand you needed pinhole camera or welders goggles
