If it was somehow scientifically possible, would you choose to become immortal, anon?

Wanting to live forever is a primitive egoic ape desire. "You" don't even exist as an individual entity, you will die and return to the source and "you" will love it

Of course. Only a total idiot would not want that.

And then the source remembers that existence is pointless and that, even as an all encompassing pantheistic being, it is alone. Then it memory wipes a portion of itself to experience "life" and the cycle repeats.

I'm fast approaching the decision to end even this one shitty lifetime short, so no.

have a bunch of experiences that I forgot about. nothing wrong with an ever existing being experiencing reality and being continuously molded by it. you can also offload part of experiences just like we did so far.
why do you think books and traditions exist? so important info isn't forgotten. it transcends human life this way. we always tried to bypass death's limitation by rebuilding humans a certain way, via certain experiences, at certain times. hard to pull off and build exactly the model you want to, but we try to, with all our rituals and teaching and culture and routines. we try to remember something we deemed as very important.

No that's shitposting. And there's literally nothing wrong with that.

There is nothing good in life. It is an unending barrage of shit, and anytime you think you actually have something, some asshole ruins it. This shitshow can't be over soon enough.

it is like a hard game. sucks ass but also feels good at times. we started naked holding to sticks and rocks and got here. a bunch of horrible bullshit along the way but today it is kind of nice. if I had to choose between coming here and coming in some primitive tribe living in some cave 100k years ago, I'd choose today's times. it's just better.

This is a really dumb comment. If your concept of "no self" needs death, then you just have a self as long as you're alive.
Further, if you're just trying to describe what is then don't act like youre expressing a preference. "People die" is obviously not a reason to not want immortality.

not only I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to, I'm not seeing how we getting immortality anyway, as pleb.
they don't need that much variety, as data. at some point they'll be able to procedural generate their own flavor for plebs, with particular set of memories and personality and shit.

>"You" don't even exist as an individual entity
This is in direct contradiction to observable reality. I can directly observe being THIS person at THIS moment. This would seem to imply that I exist as an individual entity. Maybe you are a qualialess NPC with no subjective experience, and that's why you deny the existence of the self.

The scientifically plausible kind of immortality, which is arbitrarily long lasting youth but with possible death by brute force? Yes please.
Complete immortality? Of course no.

You cannot polish your ego because it doesn't even exist, it's just not there whatsoever. It is only a tool evolved so that you know what mouth to stuff food in so you don't starve.

You are already immortal by virtue of having a soul.

The concept of heaven appeared for a reason. Typically, when you describe heaven you usually describe it as something better than the current world you’re living in. No, I do not wish to live forever in this world because of the state that it’s in, and I don’t see it getting much better in the future either.

that seems kind of arbitrary. why a today's human life span? why not 40 years max? or 240 years? how exactly did you arrive at current lifespan as being the best one?
