We're supposed to believe this is all a perfectly proportioned coincidence?
Anonymous at Wed, 10 Apr 2024 17:36:32 UTC No. 16122683
Don't care what you believe. It is what it is. What would believing it is/isn't a coincidence change?
Is that going to make you believe in God or something? If so, REALLY? That was the proof you needed? Why?

Obviously. What else could it possibly be? Do you think a Shaman cast a spell on the moon to change its distance?

most solar eclipses aren't even total, they are partial. and the distance between the sun and moon and the earth and moon is constantly changing. the only true "~ 400x" number is the diameters of the sun and moon, the rest are averages and even then it's not exactly 400. why are you so retarded and gullible? go back to facebook
explain this solar eclipse OP. you said the sun and moon were precisely proportioned?

Why would you believe otherwise? Its a weird proportion to fixate on.

Isn't the proportionality argument wrong and the moon would hide completly the sun and it is actually a relativistic phenomenon?

okay now do the same for every moon of jupiter

>Just chop off all the sig figs and round and it matches exactly!!!
God probably meant to make it exact, and was just bad at measuring. Is that what Christfags believe?

it's not perfect tho ("400" instead of 400.000), and the Moon-Earth distance isn't constant...

Its not perfect, the distance varies...

A range of 356400-406700 km means the ratio of Earth-Moon Earth-Sun lies between 367.8 and 419.7, hardly the "oh my god it's so le specific and le special". Even worse when you consider the Moon drifting away from Earth.

When you actually start looking at the rest of space you’ll realize that the earth and how it’s set up is pretty fucking rare

The Moon is drifting towards the Sun and has been since its creation. One day there will be a total solar eclipse visible from Earth that ends up being the Moon's going away party. The coincidence is us, being alive while the Moon orbits just so that it's not too close to block the corona but not too far to always be annular.

If life can only exist on a rare specific type of planet the rarity of that planet means nothing to its inhabitants

It probably is rare, but it's not like we've explored much of the universe. I heard someone use a metaphor once that concluding there's no other life would be like pulling a bucket of water out of the ocean and concluding there aren't any whales.

Solar eclipses would be better if the moon was a bit closer to earth. That way we wouldn’t have annular eclipses and totality would last longer.

>perfectly
That's entirely subjective. I happen to think those are trash proportions.
