Is this not proof that animals have free will and souls?
Could an insect have a sense of humor? I think not.

Animals have free will, insects have free will, but the degree to which they process the world varies. For example a fly just thinks do flying motion, aquire food. They don't feel emotion.
Pigs are complex, intelligent, feeling, they have emotions thoughts, they can understand fun happiness and sadness.

95% of people legitimately think that animals are categorically inferior to humans in every category. You show them a video of an animal doing something eerily human, and they go “woah that’s funny haha” and they continue to believe that only humans have souls and free will. People are retards and if they actually questioned their beliefs then they would see how retarded they are. But they have to believe in God and souls and heaven or human superiority or they will feel worthless

The basis of humor appears to be that something seems logical, but is known to be false. It means there is an optimal range for humor - you must be able to have expectations, and recognize that they are false, but you stop being able to experience humor that is too simple to make you confused. (you may notice stupid people laughing at random nonsense) You won't laugh at something "funny" that doesn't defy your expectations.
The peak humor might be birds.

I'm a staunch capital-A Atheist, and I know humans are unique in the animal kingdom. Maybe a chimpanzee is about equal to your intellect, but that's an insult to your cognition and not a promotion of a literal chimps cognition.

Language and consciousness are entwined. If you lose one, you lose the other. Yes this implies infants lack consciousness. To wit they literally try to fucking kill themselves all day based purely on curiosity which is how their brain develops and learns. At best, a chimpanzee is about equal to a literal infant human.

Imagine being retarded enough to believe this. Those aren't controlled experiments. It's from stupid pet owners who interpret signals from noise. What you don't see on those tiktoks are the thousands of random incoherent shit the dogs press.

Neither koko nor nim chimpsky are viewed favorably by linguists, since such experiments were marred by experimental bias. It's also well-accepted that apes are far more intelligent than dogs. So while controlled studies with a gorilla and a chimp show they don't understand human language, you somehow believe dogs can communicate with human language in uncontrolled studies?

Well, you sir appear to be stupider than all the above. You don't deserve the gift of language.

It's normal for people to question the intelligence of animals. Many see them as dumb, not able to comprehend emotions / feelings. Yet animals are very sensitive and have a lot of empathy. Animals have their own character and many pet owners report that many do react to human emotion and body language.
Just because they can't talk doesn't mean they are not aware of their surroundings, how somebody / something feels and react to that.
People need to get off their high horse and just accept that most animals do have feelings. How do they differ to ours? A lot is hard coded into our brains like fear. Which is nothing more than a survival instinct that animals possess as well.
Even selfishness is a trait that many people possess and is prominent in almost all mammals.

NTA but you're mixing up language and communication. Only humans have language, but all animals can communicate. A dog whimpering by its food bowl isn't using language, but it is absolutely communicating information about its internal mental state.

It doesn't have an internal mental state. It's whimpering due to pavlovian triggers. If it whines it gets food, there is no cognition at play. Just like when a plant tilts toward sunlight it gets more energy.

Anonymous No. 16128683

>>16128673
Pavlov was a schizophrenic who tortured dogs and should never have been taken seriously. Those experimens would perhaps be appropriate for worms, it's doubtful if they'd make sense for insects. Dogs are completely obviously more intelligent than that, so it makes no sense. Many, probably most understand spoken commands, how could they not learn that a ring means they are going to get fed?

Anonymous No. 16128686

>It doesn't have an internal mental state
Everything with neurons has an internal mental state, albeit less complex than ours.
Dogs feel hunger, thirst, frustration, fear, joy, satiety, just as surely as you do. Do you seriously believe that all of the mental states humans experience spontaneously arose 1 million years ago?

Instinct is behaviors. Mental states, cognition, etc are unique to humans in that we are self aware of our own instincts and can sometimes override them. If you honestly can't understand the difference between instincts (impulses) and mental states then you're unironically a dimwit with a double digit IQ. Dogs will literally rape other dogs in plain sight, hump your leg just because it's horny, bark at and chase other dogs despite being well trained. Anyone who's ever owned different breeds of dogs understands the difference between the species' temperaments that cannot be trained away.
>Hurr durr no definition ergo it wrong

ITT a retarded AI fag tries to argue that language is necessary and sufficient for consciousness in order to argue that GPT is conscious, and in order to do this he had to argue that dogs and pigs and other mammals aren't conscious despite the immediate absurdity that you can look at mammals and see they're conscious and thus trivially disprove his position.
