The fact we went from the Wright Flyer to the Lunar Landing in 66 years is really phenomenal. Even going from the Wright Flyer to the F-22 Raptor is mind blowing. What gave humans the ability to advance so quickly? Was there one particular moment in time or invention that slingshot us in that trajectory?

WW1, WW2 both drove incredible technology advances.

Side note: A lot of early aviators pushing the technology were all motorcycle and race car drivers. Men with serious cojones.
