Is general ignorance when it comes to the natural sciences (i.e. the only real ones which derive predictive equations from empirical observations) a problem?
It takes a dozen years of a man in his life of peak fluid intelligence to learn this shit properly, and by all accounts the chances of him producing anything useful or meaningful is still almost nil.

So why is there such a big push for midwits and below to "appreciate", "understand" and "educate" themselves about physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computation, and so on?

Yes the natural science where the real big thinkers come up with useful and meaninful stuff, like quantum mumbo jumbo and boltzmann brains.

>quantum mumbo jumbo and boltzmann brains
the fringe elements of knowledge are always bizarre and seemingly untrustworthy
a few more breakthroughs and the body will be canonized as we push the boundary further
and quantum mumbo jumbo will have the same position as newtonian mechanics.

Ignorance is bliss. Why would someone willingly subject him/herself to the scourge of knowledge?

Do you want a population which is well-informed or one of savages? It's obvious why scientific ignorance is a problem

The average popsci-consuming normie is already told that Newton has been totally discredited by smartest man in history and protagonist of science Albert Einstein, despite the fact that classical physics are the still by far the most useful and pratical application in human civilization

Classical physics knowledge is useful to just about anyone. Anything beyond that only is to specialized niche experts.
