What's the scientific explanation to me waking up with runny nose then it all gets better one hour later? If I go outside then it gets noticeably better. Should I visit a otolaryngologist or allergologist?

Maybe gastroesophageal reflux during your sleep? I have this. The stomach acid irritates the nasal mucosa. Makes sense that it gets better once you're not in a lying position anymore.

In an early state not necessarily. It takes longer until the reflux causes pain in esophagus or swelling in tonsils.
