Neither of those are ambiguous though
If you're doing operations that have the same level of "priority" (i.e. addition/subtraction or division/multiplication) then you do them in the order that the equation presents them.
1 / 2 * 3 = 2
1 / 2 = 0.5
0.5 * 3 = 2
and
1 - 2 + 3 = 2
1 - 2 = -1
-1 + 3 = 2
If it was meant to be done any other way, such as 1 / 2 * 3 = 0.166666 repeating, then they would include brackets around the 2 * 3 part. That's the point of brackets.
