well it probably triggers some kind of signal cascade in those susceptible to seizures. Why wouldn't it be real? Same shit happens with light. It's not weird lights that give people seizures, it's how their brain handles the processing of that information. No reason it couldn't happen with sounds as well.

It is a real thing. Epilepsy means that the brain undergoes massive uncontrollable depolarizations. Some visual and auditory stimuli can causebrain nuclei to start bursting uncontrollably if there is some ion channel mutation or hypoxia
