What could be the reason for this?

Because we keep using plastic. Do you mean why do the Brits breathe it while Malaysians eat it?

Some people even wear plastic clothing today. I get to wittness this more and more. The phenomenon is associated with a certain phenotype. What do people think happens to the fibers when they are stressed during wearing and washing ?

Odd. I refuse to and many I know do. This includes making sure no artificial thread was used ((((they))) will claim cotton but the thread is plastic, they will claim wool but it will come coated in plastic, its called 'superwash' etc.).
So I guess it's that certain phenotype who does.

My winter gear is all fur and sheepskin, you can find a lot of fur clothing fairly cheap these days because the soiys have been convinced to pay hundreds of dollars for inferior plastic garbage that poisons them instead of getting high quality clothing.
