For me, add a bunch of shit after advanced calculus, then replace "job" by "no job" and "spreadsheet" by "nothing"

if your work is centered around spreadsheets you've already failed in your career

Just become an actuary, thats what i did. The exams are not easy but if you can do a math degree then they're only a moderate challenge. You only need to know a little bit of sql really. Maybe R and python depending.

Is the work itself at all interesting? Would rather stick with my shit pay research assistant job that's interesting than be a well paid spreadsheet monkey

why does it go straight from elementary school to college, asshole? just write primary/secondary school if you really want to group all those things into one stage, dipshit

I mean it's not bad. It's work. It's mostly using sql and excel to try to isolate certain signals and identify trends in the loss data. Writing code to produce reports. Etc.

Insurance is pretty interesting philosophically tbqh but no the work is not comparably interesting to research.

That doesn't sound so bad, I was worried it would basically be accounting but higher paid. Will look into it

This too, but then extend "advanced calculus" by all sorts of mathematical analysis that is harmful to your social standing if you utter in polite company which just hardens your hatred for retards (aka normal people).

It really is though. Not in practice, sure - in practice it's touching buttons to make the sql thingy go brr. But in theory it's quite interesting. You are basically arbitraging people's fear of the unknown future against your own slightly-less-afraid conception of the future.

Im not saying it's comparable to being a fuckin cosmologist or something, but it's leagues ahead of accounting or most IT fields in terms of how interesting the field itself is.
