My therapist thinks my only chance of getting my shit together is taking it for 6 months, while introducing organization and routine habits in my life, and only after it I can stop taking it.

Generally yes. The worst side effects I every had from ADHD meds were hypergraphia and hallucinating swarms of flying insects.
