That guy rubs me the wrong way. I couldn't say what exactly, but I notice in his videos he occasionally straddles right on the line between informative and sensationalist. I did learn from reading youtube comments he seems to have tried implying/potraying himself as a physicist or something when in fact he studied to be an educator. Idk, i just get an off vibe from him

He’s been getting worse. He started out with the cheesy “look how stupid the public is!” Kind of videos, then he started making better informative videos, now he’s really pushing the line of what’s true and meaningful to what’s exciting and interesting. The fiasco with the “the wire doesn’t carry the energy! The electric field does, which is generated by the charge in the wire…” and then basically saying induction is the source of power in the grid (which is nonsense and he got rightly called out for it).

PBS shows are the best.
Derek has moved from physics to generic science, and it's for the better content wise. Steve Mould and AlphaPhoenix do nice simple physics stuff. For engineering, I feel there's a lot; you got people like Technological Connections, Lesics, Practical Engineering, and prob more idk. Computerphile for programming. There are way too many for math.

I've always thought the same way.
What was so cringe was when he made such a big deal about the idea that between 1 and 100 the number 37 is the most chosen random number when every retard knows that humans are biased when it comes to choosing a random number. And on top of that in his experiment it was not even 37 but the number seven but he dismissed that.

I feel like now that he has money, all these vids aren't even his ideas. He almost def has some group behind the scenes working on different projects, then in the end they have him travel and they record him do and say stuff. Like, the interviews with professionals, they prob aren't done by him. I really doubt the 37 problem was his vid.

I never really enjoyed science youtubers. It always turns out they are kind of shit scientists, which is why they end up doing science. And most of them have an ego or attention whore problem (which is true for most youtubers in general).
The fun of science is in the doing. If you want to have dick around with science come up with some project to do. It doesn't have to be usefull or publishable, just somethig to do yourselfe.
I guess the only one i enjoyed was niel green. Though his shtick gets kind of boring real fast.
