That seems logical from an ecological (that is our original ecosystem) and economical standpoint (free food, no need for any type of air-conditioning or clothing or shelter besides a mosquito net, living for free, basically), but we're too many people for that region to maintain 8 billion people sustainably. We'd absolutely ravage everything.
It would be interesting to figure out what human population density such an ecosystem could sustain indefinitely without collapse, figure out the geographic area of the ecosystem, and do the obvious math to figure out exactly just how many people could live "for free".
