Do actual doctors look down on psychiatrists? Sure they went to med school, but half the the shit they do is made up

Yes because psychology isn’t a science. How do you you exactly measure psychological phenomenon? what does happiness mean? How can I measure happiness? It’s all arbitrary and guess work. You cannot read peoples minds that’s impossible so it’s all pseudoscience

I absolutely hate psychiatrists because they barely know surface level shit about the drugs they prescribe. They're not required to, like a pharmacist is, and not rigorously tested like doctors are. The entire setup is skewed in their favor too.

they are tested like doctors are though, they have to pass all the same med school exams

Historically it was considered a less desirable specialty since they don't make as much money as other doctors. See, the way it works in the US is the more money a specialty makes the more competitive you have to be as an applicant to land a residency. Family med and psych were the least competitive and often filled seats with international medical graduates. There's also a perception among physicians that psychiatrists have forgotten all their general medical knowledge (often true). I'd say that today psychiatrists are still less respected by other physicians but the specialty has become slightly more desirable since zoomer med students are enticed by the work life balance and autonomy you can have as a psychiatrist.

We don't really have GPs in the united states. Before the 70s anyone who did a one year internship after med school could work as a family practice doctor, which was synonymous with general practitioner. Now you need to do a residency in family medicine to do that, and they're not really called GPs anymore.

you dont seem to get it
there are only two possible states of mind
1. sane
2. insane
but psychiatrists have made up complete fantasy :
-schizophrenia (doesnt exist)
-bi-polar (doesnt exist)
-depression (doesnt exist)

they do have to pass but they are the ones who got the lowest possible scores in passing
arguable a surgeon might have bad scores too on some subjects but he is absolutely great with his hands
a psychiatrist is not adept with hands
she doesnt know shit
she is pracically useless

not really, and those who do feel superior to a plethora of doctors. Psychiatrists are not therapists (entirely). Usually, they take on patients and cut them a script for whatever drug they want so they can get back to researching the mind and how it interacts with the world. Its a new science, but its usually much more rigorous then its given credit for. If the people asking things like "what even is happiness and how could it be measured" actually asked a psychiatrist that question, they would get a quick answer about how that specific metric is bullshit but there are measures of life satisfaction that are rigorous. They would be blown away by how much their elementary questions have been asked and answered or researched, the same as some moron questioning the periodic table to a chemist because of joe rogan.
