Was Michio ever a respectable figure?
Anonymous at Sun, 9 Jun 2024 02:56:30 UTC No. 16223576
Tv scientist. Pay him and he will say anything.

He's only one rung above black science man. And I do mean only ONE rung.

Don't think so. Only reason his name is still being thrown around is because a ton of normies think he's some kind of genius that will revolutionize the scientific world. Blame TV.

Have you found any reasons why he should be disrespected?

no.

He discovered the equations for string field theory.

Put down the calculator and show me some strings. He can't. That's why he'll fade into history.

He claims people against string theory are just jealous because string theory is successful and it's getting more funded than other fields

Forget about the experimental issues, can string theory, at least as a hypothesis, predict something interesting in particle physics?
Like, whats the main prediction. I get it might never be verified, however that cant be blamed on the theory

no, nothing big if you don't respect string theory, but he had a lot of potential when he was younger. he's just a sellout now and it's really disappointing.

He is a science divulger, his job is to inform people about the potential of science and technology, and if he is being guided by those who do the research on what he is talking about, I don't see anything wrong with that.
If he is lying, that's different, but it's not his problem if people don't understand his clear words. I always have, the man expresses himself quite eloquently.

He called it on crypto and AI plateau. And he's a decent enough physicist, having co-founded string theory (for what it's worth) and written some textbooks.

The theory does explain somethings, like quantum gravity and the lack of tachyons, which is what made it a theory in the first place instead of random hobo schizobabble.
