Not all brains are created equal. size and even wrinkling isn't all there is to it. If that were the case then there is no way that animals like ravens or crows could be as intelligent as they are - they have small, smooth brains. Pic related. There are many other factors at play, many of them still not understood.
And it's hard to study blue whale brains directly, because you have to, you know, kill the whale to look at it. And unless you're Japanese or Scandinavian the world has generally agreed that killing whales is bad.

Turns out intelligence really isn't that hard to emulate.
Sentience is, and only because it is an emergent property of the physical structure of the human brain.

They are defined as different things, even if in your personal opinion, you do not believe them to be different.

Calculators are intelligent: they can determine different logical outcomes from input conditions we feed them.
Can calculators feel? Doubtful.

NTA, here is what i gathered:
brain size and wrinkling arent the only relevant factors for how intelligent an organism is.
ravens and crows are a counter example to the previous argument.
many of the factors contributing to intelligence arent understood yet.
studying whales is difficult since you will have to kill the whales to study their brains.
killing whales is frowned upon in most places except for scandinavia and japan.

brains do a lot more than think. they secrete all sorts of chemicals to regulate the body. big bodies need big brains.

Dolphin's IQ is higher than wthat of whales

Intelligence developped itself because mammals needed heat regulation in cold environment, thus mammals with ROUNDER brains (less heat loss) survived more.
Rounder brain means easier neuronal connections.

but 99% of brain metabolism has nothing to do with intellectual activity. perhaps volume optimization enables scaling across neighborhoods via temporal dependent spiking and accelerated axonal transduction.

volume-wise, yes, but i don't think the transcending axiom transmission would allow information to be carried across hexogonal patterns like that
