๐Ÿงต incredible map of genes

Anonymous No. 16225276

renewed, more accurate genetic map now show how human and bird gene are quite ditinct from jellyfish and insect happens to be closer to jellyfish

eventhough insects evolved from land crustaceans 330 million years ago, they must have split of from jellyfish later than human did because human genes (actually fish genes) went so far away

fish separated from the jellyfish maybe 700 million years ago already

but for 300 million years fish were very simple
for a while, it looked like lobters may be the most advanced life form on Earth but somehow fish managed to get more complex than a lobster, finally developing more complex brain than lobsters own brain

Nice plot.

I would love to see a similar plot for visual pigment, for example rhodopsin

say the name (code) of the rhodopsin gene in question and what kind of species did you wanted to see on the plot?

This is PCA right? If so I don't think you can infer anything about when species split apart from it.

Nice, but your graph needs labels on those axes.

>crustaceans
you should add those on there too if you can, that'd be interesting.

also, I see you have several points for the same type of taxa, maybe color or symbol-code them? All fish one color, all birds the same color, etc

how do you like this?
note it is very peculiar harvestman and insect genes would meet like that in not one but two places
altough harvestman isnt a crustacean, it moved from sea to land maybe 400 million years ago and is likely almost unchanged since forever
