How much are we influenced by our gut bacteria ("I want to eat X.. I need to drink Y"), it seems we are ruled by it but it can be changed over time, tastes evolve through our years and habits..
Am I the megabiome or just a slave to the microbiome?

You are the megabiome. The microbiome can protest occasionally by giving you diarrhea, but you are in ultimate control.

i.e. you can choose to endure diarrhea if you force yourself to eat general tsao chicken.
but the real question OP asked is about more subtle ways your gut can have an effect on your mood.
