CO2 INCREASES DUE TO OCEAN WARMING, NOTHING TO DO WITH MAN. THIS IS BASIC SCIENCE!
Co2 released as water heated up:
When water is heated up, it can release CO2 (carbon dioxide) in a process known as degassing. This occurs because CO2 is dissolved in water at higher concentrations than it is in the atmosphere. As the water is heated, the solubility of CO2 decreases, allowing it to escape from the solution.
How it Works
When water is heated, the molecules gain energy and start moving faster. This increased kinetic energy allows the CO2 molecules to break free from their bonds with the water molecules and escape into the air as a gas.

they will just counter saying that ocean warming is due to human activity.

>This occurs because CO2 is dissolved in water at higher concentrations than it is in the atmosphere.
This is true, unless the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is such that the process reverses. Consequently, with high enough CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere, even warmer water can absorb more CO2, until a new equilibrium is found between the two mediums. That is, assuming no more CO2 keeps getting added into the atmosphere from carbon stores in the lithosphere that have been away for millions of years (fossil fuels).

Underwater volcanoes. At least that's what oceanographers believe is the primary cause. The temperature curve is not consistent with it being due to atmospheric interaction as there's been a recent spike in ocean temperature that's coincided with an increase in volcanic activity.
So those who want to prove it is global warming will now have to prove the increase in activity by underwater volcanoes is due to global warming.

As a geologist, I'd like to see some sources for that claim, please. It's not that you might be wrong, it's just that I want to learn.

Huhangotophauhau blowing its top unleashed something like 2 billion gigatons of water vapor into the atmosphere iirc

This is why the 450ppm/+2C is a tipping point.
Once the seas push CO2 instead of removing it, the warming will go on even if humans would disappear overnight.

When the night falls silently,
The night falls silently on forests dreaming,
Lovers wander forth to see,
They wander forth to see the bright stars gleaming.
And lest they should lose their way,
Lest they should lose their way, the glow-worms nightly
Light their tiny lanterns gay,
Their tiny lanterns gay and twinkle brightly.

Here and there and everywhere, from mossy dell and hollow,
Floating, gliding through the air, they call on us to follow.
