You should get over your prejudices and watch the video, the impact of solar and extrasolar radiation and particles on our environment is an important and fascinating topic when it comes to understanding the true nature of our climate.

terrible movie regardless the science content. the pacing and nauseating maudlin overly dramatic production are atrocious, could've been shortened to 90 seconds and would've gotten it's point across better that way.

That video is disgusting. Its a science documentary, not a human interest story, just give me the facts without making me sit through 9 minutes of useless scenery shots with sad, pensive violin music.

yes, I know that, and every atmospheric and climate scientist knows that. It's part of their fucking curriculum. I'm just a geologist and even I learned about it in my classes.

no, it's just that I already do know about the effects he's going to get into, and I already know that by disrespectfully opening up his video like that, I'm bound to watch yet another biased and manipulatory video about something that any decent scientist learned about in college, and I have better things to do with my time.

There is no correlation between cosmic rays and climate whatsoever. People that are climate denialists took a paper about how cosmic rays can seed cloud formation and made a claim that therefore it regulated climate. The problem is that neither an increase nor a decrease in cosmic rays over time has shown any change in Earth's temperature at all. Therefore your claim has been long ago debunked and is therefore considered bad science.

Its kind of neat to think at a supernova occurring thousands of years ago could end up having a dramatic effect on the weather here on Earth in the future.

The fact that cosmic rays instigate cloud formation is confirmed by the fact that there are no European records of the Crab nebula supernova 1000 years ago because Europe was completely clouded over the whole time it could have been observed, because the cosmic rays from the supernova caused massive amounts of cloud formation during that period.

>rays and their effect on earths weather
Thats an interesting area to study
I'm not so much concerned about "cosmic" ray but rather cycles of sun rays blasting earth. The sun is the source of all the energy, life, weather, etc on earth. 0.0001% shift in sun ray can have a significant impact on earth. But we just dont know how much it impacts us crucially. We know that the sun blasts us with hundreds of quintillions of energy towards and all that gets transformed into heat/motion and then a roughly equivalent amount gets blasted off back into space as well (other wise we'd be cooked with all that energy). So the question remains, if there's periods of sun activity thats causing slight increase, how would we know about it?
We don't we just dont have the understanding of how the mechanics of this plays out and dont know the scope of the problem.
