Australia's cold snap expected to linger
https://www.lismorecitynews.com.au/
Australians shivered through their coldest morning on June 19 with low temperatures expected for another week.
Some NSW regional temperatures dipped below zero while others hovered just above freezing.
Lismore recorded 3.7C, Kempsey 1.3C, Port Macquarie 3.9C, Taree 4.9C, Bellambi 7.8C, Bega 0.8C, Bathurst 0.1C, Orange 0.7C, Gunnedah 1.6C, Forbes -1.9C, Albury -2.2C and Wagga -1.3C.
In Victoria it was even colder. Bendigo experienced a low of -3.9C, Shepparton and Ballarat -3.6C and Warrnambool recorded -1.4C.
It was minus 4 degrees at 4.30am at Canberra airport.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a fog warning to Canberra drivers.
In the Snowy Mountains, Perisher Valley recorded a low of minus 8 degrees at 12.30am with an apparent temperature of minus 11.
Bureau spokesperson Morgan Pumpa said the cold temperatures were generated by a low pressure system in the Tasman Sea whipping freezing southerly winds into south-eastern Australia. That combined with a high pressure system over much of the country's east.
The frigid mix had been creating unusually cold conditions since the weekend and was set to ease with clouds expected for the winter solstice on Friday, June 21.
But by June 22, another cold front was predicted to again deliver widespread icy conditions to the country's east.
Ms Pumpa said "looking at the weekend we again have some large areas [with a] chance of frost, it is not just Tasmania, many parts of Victoria and parts of NSW."
"Usually the coldest mornings are July and August but at the moment we are seeing very cold temperatures in June."

You're ignorant, and not ironically.

>Australia's coldest towns revealed following week-long cold snap across Australia
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-06
If you're in eastern Australia, it's been pretty hard to avoid small talk about the cold this past week.
Large parts of the country faced their coldest morning of the year so far, as the clear skies and icy air caused the mercury to plummet, with several June records being set across Victoria, Queensland and Tasmania.
And temperatures on Sunday and Monday morning could be colder still, according to the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM).
So, in the midst of this bitter cold snap, where have the chilliest places been so far?
And while we're at it, which town holds claim as Australia's coldest?
Unsurprisingly, it was the alpine areas that clocked the lowest overall temperatures during this cold-snap, with Thredbo dropping down to -9 degrees Celsius on both Tuesday and Thursday morning, according to BOM data.
This was also Australia's coldest temperature of the year to date.
But what about places outside of the snowfields, where cold temperatures aren't the drawcard?
With that lens on, it was Cooma, a little further east, which was the coldest place in Australia, dropping to β8.9C on Thursday at its airport.
As for the coldest day-time temperatures, you can spare a thought for the two people that live in Liawenee β in the centre of Tasmania β where the maximum temperature was no higher than 2.4C last Sunday.
It's worth noting, while Queensland was never going to get a look in when it came to the overall coldest temperatures, it did have the most extreme temperatures compared to what's normal.
On Tuesday, Williamson Airfield β north of Rockhampton β dipped to a low of 0C, which was 11.7C below its average for June.
Tambo and Biloela were also more than 10C below average that day, with their minium temperatures plunging to well below zero.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What youβre referring to as global warming, is in fact, GNU/Warming, or as Iβve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Warming.

Pic is hilariously misleading.
The closest that most places get to snow is dew frost briefly coating their lawns
It's dipping to around 4C to 0C at night.
Which is far from irregular for the season.
It's been like this for all of the twenty-something years I've been alive.
> But its summer...
You gotta remember that everything's backwards down here in the southern hemisphere.
In Australia, Christmas is in summer and midyear marks winter.
