fuck that's really unfortunate to suffer from that, I guess it's like having phosphenes on steroids, always on.
I once had a concussion to my visual cortex, and that's how it was, the phosphenes became so intense that I was blinded, couldn't see anything for a good number of hours.

That's normal in a universe where everything is always moving so that an observe can never determine exactly whether anything is here or there and continuity / analog is a concept for digital / binary steps smaller than an observer can discern.

I have this and it's pretty easy to ignore; actually it's hard to pay attention to it unless I get reminded by something like op. It's not that bad, visual fidelity is still there. It's possible my case is really mild though. I remember freaking out as a kid when I realized this didn't happen to everyone

I suffer from full blown HPPD.
The other night, I had multiple full blown conversations with multiple people who disappeared, it was awesome.

i had this for a few days when my long covid was at its worst.

it didnt look like static, it looked like tiny shards of light entering my eye through a prism.

it's hard to believe that all people don't experience this. it seems more reasonable that that the brain would be trained to simply ignore it, as >>16246036 mentions.
what do "normal" people see in low light, when they try to focus on reading or other high-frequency shapes? do they not see tiny discrepancies of color surrounding the vague shape?
