Unless you have a food replicator, farms are necessary for you to eat. For farms to operate, they need humans. For humans to run farms, they need access to food (beyond just what they're growing), fuel, education, building supplies, equipment maintenance, and much more. Put several of those providers near each other, you have a town.
Maybe someday we will have fully automated farms run by robots and self driving delivery vehicles. Until then, people have to live on farms and many of those are in areas prone to tornadoes.

When I was a child, tornadoes were extremely classist, as most of their kills were in mobile home parks where the poor lived. Changes in construction requirements for mobile homes and requirements for things like tie-downs thwarted the evil Bourgeoisie tornadoes from killing so many of the Proletariat. Now in our period of late stage capitalism, tornadoes are being strengthened by the owners of the means of production to once again keep the worker down.

Granular material getting pulled out of it. Could be insulation, shingles pulverizing, or something in the building.
