Wow, the US government introduced a bill to Congress, gained congressional approval and then cleared the Senate all in just 7 days after the Saudi deal expired? That's incredible efficiency!

>While the IQ of the general population continues to decline, we finally start investing in the most complex, error prone, least forgiving of all methods to generate energy. Wonder how this will turn out.
I've been pro-nuclear ever since I was old enough to understand the basics of such things but moving to more nuclear has an increasing level of risk as long as we as a society continue to be obsessed with putting DEI in everything. While I'd love to believe that nuclear power generation would be exempt, the provisions in the CHIPS Act and recent revelations on the FAA endangering the public at multiple levels with DEI first policies gives me little reason to believe nuclear will be different.
>But PAWL! But PAWL!
This isn't a case of someone not wanting people of different skin tones sitting in the same movie theater as them. If a nuclear plant fucks up, the consequences can be immense. Nuclear can be a very safe way of generating tremendous amounts of energy with limited externalities but only if it is run by competent people.
