Carbon taxation is touted as the most effective way to steer the market towards green technology but it's clearly politically nonviable in its current form. Can we change carbon taxation to make it palatable to normies or is it a lost cause and we should look to other policy tools?

I'm, personally, not super convinced by the idea. It's a clever way to let financiers siphon value out of environmental issues and might work better but I have more faith in direct force rather than economic incentives. And honestly, until/if we expand significantly into outer space economic growth itself is a big part of the problem. Especially in places like Indonesia and India.
An economic incentive that I do think would work well is western countries giving third worlders with genetic issues a thousand usd or whatever to get sterilized. Same in the west for people with autism (which includes me btw, probably), schizophrenia, etc. A population that is 20% retarded in the future will be catastrophic.

Also: Ban fucking fast fashion NOW. It is insane how much money/energy is wasted on generating polyester trash to ship to the west. A set of new clothes should cost $300.

>it was warm for a week
>this is proof the world's ending and we need bigger government, higher taxes, and less individual rights
Why don't you people just move to China? See the result of big government, then get depersoned and your organs harvested for the "greater good" because you said something some party member didn't like about their industrial pollution and smog and non-existent air quality..
>Denialniggers
Typical of you brainwashed cultists, just a bunch of cowards who can't prove your fear-mongering without doctored data and manipulating results, so you slander anyone and use loaded language to push your socialist/communist agendas. You're reprobate scum of the earth.

Climate alarmism is just a vehicle for socialism/communism. You have to remember they're Godless reprobates who consider morality relative and think the ends justify the means, they'll lie endlessly and do all sorts of evils to reach their "ends" of some fictional utopia that will never happen.

>Why don't you people just move to China? See the result of big government,
I'm moving to Norway to live with my fiances family actually. Retards like you have ruined both the planet and the US
>then get depersoned and your organs harvested for the "greater good" because you said something some party member didn't like about their industrial pollution and smog and non-existent air quality

t. Forms his view of reality from noise-ridden facebook jpegs

Post your address and find out
>who can't prove your fear-mongering without doctored data and manipulating results
Show me something in an IPCC report that was manipulated or doctored, and which would change anything about their conclusions
>so you slander anyone and use loaded language
>NOOOOOOO STOP CALLING ME A NIGGER NOOOOOO YOU'RE DOING A HECCIN WRONGTHINK
> to push your socialist/communist agendas.
Ironically I'm a trump supporter, but only because hes funny. Also a Christian, which is a big part of why I care about the environment.
>You're reprobate scum of the earth.

In many ways carbon taxes are a way to offload the cost of carbon reduction onto consumers. It would be similar to a sin tax like those put on alcohol or tobacco which often times fails to discourage use. It could help to make low carbon products more competitive and depending on how the tax revenue is allocated it could have additional benefits such as climate change mitigation programs. I think a better solution would be to somehow compel the companies that profited from fossil fuels knowing that it would cause climate change to fund infrastructure upgrades and a transition to green energy. Ideally they would see no profit from these endeavors and would also be compelled to fund carbon sequestration efforts or other types of climate change mitigation.

Animal agriculture is the biggest cause of environmental harm in the world. 91% of Amazon deforestation is for animal agriculture. 50% of plastic in oceans is from the fishing industry. The animal agriculture industry is either the #1 or #2 emitter of greenhouse gases (not that I personally believe greenhouse gases are necessarily much of a concern, but for those who do...). Animal agriculture is why we can't safely swim in rivers anymore due to agricultural runoff. I could go on and on and on.
Anyone who pretends to be an environmentalist should be required to watch Cowspiracy.

You're not wrong. Keeping your own livestock can have a much smaller impact then factory farmed livestock, but it's best if they provide manure for your garden and some useful service for you rather than just being meat animals. For example using goats to keep your lawn mowed instead of a lawnmower or using chickens to reduce pest populations in and around your garden. Adding charcoal to their feed and incorporating charcoal into their litter can also significantly reduce ghg emissions and runoff from the animals and their manure.

I've seen it and it didn't change my habits much. I have cut out all seafood after I learned about the fishing industry however. There's no sustainable way to eat tuna or crab it seems.
